Mbappe Reaches 72 UCL Goals: Passes Raul and the Real Madrid Kits to Wear
His 100th Champions League appearance, at Roma, ended with Kylian Mbappe burying a deflected finish from the edge of the area and the 72nd moved him past Raul into sole fifth on the competition's all-time scoring list - a total the Madrid legend needed 142 appearances to reach. It also made Mbappe, at 27 years and 298 days, the youngest player in Champions League history to reach 100 matches, beating Lionel Messi's 28 years and 84 days. A deflected finish, five minutes after Roma went ahead, was enough.
The Road to 71: Real Madrid 2-1 Inter
The goal came from Inter's worst first half in months: Yann Bisseck was caught in possession, Brahim Diaz slid the pass through, and Mbappe finished first time past Josep Martinez. Federico Valverde made it 2-0 on 23 minutes when the Inter keeper hesitated over a back pass and was dispossessed. Carlos Augusto pulled one back on 77 minutes, but Thibaut Courtois - marking his 100th Champions League appearance - made seven saves to close it out, including a late stop from Mkhitaryan.

The efficiency is the story. At 0.72 goals per Champions League appearance, Mbappe is scoring at a rate that puts the all-time record of 140 within realistic range if he stays in Madrid through his prime. Reports after the match said Raul himself presented Mbappe with the trophy for last season's Champions League top scoring award.
France Duty Adds Another Layer
The same week, Mbappe's name headed the first France squad list of the new international window under Zidane's management - a reminder that his season now runs on two fronts, the Bernabeu and Les Bleus.
