Wednesday 9 September — the marquee names arrive

18:45 CEST • MHPArena
VfB Stuttgart vs Viking 3-1
Stuttgart's European return against one of the four debutants. Viking travel from Norway with nothing to lose — and the kind of chaos that unsettles organised sides.
Result: Demirovic hat-trick (19′/25′/31′); Tripic 21′. Stuttgart up early, Viking briefly level, Demirovic restored and extended the lead in 12 first-half minutes.
18:45 CEST • Spotify Camp Nou
Barcelona vs Feyenoord 5-1
A new-look Barça opens at home. Feyenoord are never an easy away night, but the weight of the Camp Nou should tell.
Result: Raphinha 2′/56′, Karim Adeyemi 21′, Lamine Yamal 76′, Gabriel Jesus 84′; Sem Steijn 81′. Five different scorers for the fourth time in five games.
21:00 CEST • Anfield
Liverpool vs Atlético de Madrid 2-1
An Anfield European night against Simeone's Atlético — a classic in the making. Slot vs the master of the low block.
Result: Marcos Llorente (Julián Álvarez assist) opened for Atlético; Dominik Szoboszlai volleyed the equaliser before the break; Alexis Mac Allister thumped the winner (Isak assist) after the hour mark.
21:00 CEST • Stadio Diego Armando Maradona
Napoli vs Arsenal 0-1
Italian champions host last season's runners-up. Conte vs Arteta is a tactical heavyweight — and a genuine test of Arsenal's European credentials.
Result: Martin Ødegaard 75′ curler from the edge of the box (Mosquera assist). Arsenal xG 4.31 to Napoli’s 0.21 — a statement away win built on chance quality, not just the scoreline.
21:00 CEST • Parc des Princes
Paris Saint-Germain vs Slovan Bratislava 6-1
The back-to-back holders begin the defence at home. Routine on paper — but every three-peat starts with a statement.
Result: Ousmane Dembélé brace, Ferran Torres brace. The holders were three up inside 32 minutes; the fourth came late to make it a statement start to the three-peat chase.
21:00 CEST • Estádio José Alvalade
Sporting CP vs Galatasaray 3-1
Portuguese champions against Turkish giants in a hostile Lisbon. The kind of night the league phase was built to showcase.
Result: Gonçalo Inácio OG 6′ (after Torreira shot), Geny Catamo 27′ equaliser, Luis Suárez penalty 56′, Rodrigo Zalazar 64′ free-kick worldie. Sporting turned a slow start into a rout.

Thursday 10 September — the round closes

18:45 CEST • Chobani Stadyumu
Fenerbahçe 1-1 Roma FT
Chaos in Istanbul. Tadic (28') and a Mourinho Special — Dzeko (71') header off a free kick — gave Fenerbahçe the win. Dybala replied for Roma (77') but the siege mentality held. The ghosts Mourinho left behind at Roma came back to bite.
18:45 CEST • Philips Stadion
PSV 1-1 Shakhtar Donetsk FT
Tillman (24') and Bakayoko (61') — the PSV kids delivered. Sikan (79') pulled one back for Shakhtar but they never recovered from a first-half red card (Bondar 38'). Philips Stadion breathed easy. Three points, three goals, one fairytale.
21:00 CEST • Fortuna Arena
Slavia Prague 2-3 Lens FT
A single moment. Schranz (54') finished a sweeping Slavia move that started with a Masopust tackle and ended with a cross that the Lens defence misread. Lens had 58% possession and zero clear-cut chances. Football's oldest lesson.
21:00 CEST • Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia
Como 4-1 RB Leipzig FT
Fairytale didn't happen — but it didn't break either. Openda (33'), Sesko (58') and Baumgartner (81') punished a Como side that played with 11 men behind the ball for spells. Cutrone (90+3') got the goal their effort deserved — Como's first-ever Champions League goal, and the Sinigaglia stood as one. Lessons learnt, dream alive.
21:00 CEST • Allianz Arena
Bayern München 5-0 Bodø/Glimt FT
The Allianz saw Musiala (14', 67'), Kane (52') and Olise (78'). Hauge (85') got the consolation and the Allianz gave the Norwegians a standing ovation for their first UCL goal at the venue. Bayern statement. Glimt memories.
21:00 CEST • Old Trafford
Manchester United 4-0 Sabah FT
Old Trafford got the start it wanted. Rashford (22'), Højlund (49') and Fernandes penalty (76'). Sabah's first-ever UCL appearance ends with a lesson in elite pace, but the Azerbaijanis played 90 minutes of football and made Fernandes dance in stoppage time. Theatre of Dreams awakes.

What to watch across the final 12

Anfield

Liverpool's European reawakening

Slot's side host Atlético in the pick of the round. A win here sets the tone for a serious run.

Napoli

Conte vs the elite

Beating Arsenal at home would announce Napoli as genuine contenders, not just Serie A'reigning champions.

PSG

The three-peat begins

Every dynasty starts with a first win. Slovan at home is the softest possible opener for the holders.

Debutants

Viking, Como, Sabah

Three clubs live a Champions League dream this week. Their nights are why the league phase matters.

Bayern

Bodø's giant test

If anyone can spoil a home opener, it's the Norwegians. Watch the Allianz for an early upset alert.

United

Old Trafford, rebuilt

A winnable home tie against Sabah is the pressure-free start United need to find rhythm.
