Lisbon: 97 Goals Nobody Saw Coming
Sporting CP paid €24m for a Championship striker in July 2023. Two seasons later he had 97 goals in 102 games, two Primeira Liga titles, two golden boots, and a place among the most devastating goal-scoring seasons ever recorded: 43 goals in 2023-24 with the Player of the Season award, then 54 in 2024-25 - including a Champions League hat-trick against Manchester City in a 4-1 rout. A header on debut in the Emirates Cup, a brace against Leeds in his first home league start, the Gerd Müller Award as the world's best goalscorer that September, a Champions League hat-trick against Atlético Madrid in October, and by May: Premier League champion, Arsenal's 14th top-flight title, sealed with a round to spare. Eleven days later he walked out for the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain — and buried his kick in the shootout that Arsenal lost 5-4.
